I stumbled over this picture and fell in love with it immediately and so strong that I had to order a huge framed print of it. This vintage photograph does everything right:A beautiful and seductive lady that is portraied perfectly in gesture, mimic and expression. The cigarette holder is a sign of luxus, and this picture just "oozes" that luxury feel. The long, black glove made from soft leather is a core component of this picture and a direct contrast of the pale skin of Victoria von Hagen. Colour-wise this image is also perfect: Black and white, and a bit of colour. Smooth, pale skin on the right side and black, soft and tender leather that has deep wrinkles on the left. High contrast and simple picture that - and probably because of that - looks so timeless. Details I really like is that only the half of the face can be seen - a nice stylistic device, and the continuos seam on the seductive leather glove. Timeless and beautiful.
